It all started when…

Elyse began playing the viola at 9 in her elementary school music program. When her Dad gave her the choice between violin and viola (because he thought the cello would be to big) she asked what everyone does..“What’s the difference?” After telling her that violins mostly play the melody and violas play mostly harmony, Elyse immediately felt called to the viola. After hearing the rich, dark sound-she was hooked. Since then, Elyse has gone on to perform all over the world. Since settling in San Francisco, she has had the opportunity to play with artists such as Josh Groban, Michael Buble, Father John Misty, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Evanescence and Il Volo.

An avid orchestral musician, Elyse has played with most bay area regional orchestras, including Symphony Silicon Valley, Santa Rosa, Berkeley and Monterey Symphonies, as well as the National Repertory Orchestra, New World Symphony, and NOI Festival Orchestra. She continues to play regularly with many of these orchestras and is a member of the Santa Cruz Symphony, and is Principal Violist of the Peninsula Symphony.

Elyse is a member of Redwood Tango Ensemble, a leading North American Octet dedicated to contemporary tango music. Known for visceral and powerful stage performances and innovative original music, RTE is a singular voice within the new generation of cutting edge tango composition and future-driven chamber music in North America. https://www.redwoodtango.com
